The Concept

Like many 4-year-olds, Kayla asked a lot of questions about the world she observed around her. She asked her mother, a management consultant, and her father, a scientist, why there were not more women science professors working with Daddy. She wondered if women could be airline pilots like the men she saw flying commercial jets. She heard stories form her mother of the male executives she worked with in corporations and wondered where the women worked.

Her mother tried her best to explain that women can and do succeed in these careers. What her mother thought was missing was a showcase of powerful, inspiring, ethnically diverse women in various careers sharing and archiving their stories, allowing them to positively influence the lives of the next generation.

Thus, the concept of SheHeroes was born.

Kayla is now 6 years old. Our vision is, within three years, to have an archive of SheHeroes to which she can aspire and in whose footsteps she can follow.
