Gloria Steinem started out reading Wonder Women comics, went underground as a Playboy Bunny, and went on to become a major global voice for female empowerment. 

Steinem was a columnist for New York magazine, and co-founder of Ms. magazine. In 1969, she published "After Black Power, Women's Liberation," an article that brought her national attention and positioned her as a feminist leader. In 1971, she co-founded the National Women's Political Caucus, which provided training and support for women seeking elected and appointed office. 

In 1972, Steinem co-founded the feminist magazine Ms. magazinewith co-founding editors.Its 300,000 test copies sold out nationwide in eight days. 

On July 10, 1971, Steinem was one of more than three hundred women who founded the National Women's Peace Caucus (NWPC), including such notables as Bella Abzug, Betty Friedan, Shirsly Chisolm, and Myrlie Evers-Williams.

In the decades that followed Gloria became a major global voice informing women how to changes themselves, their circumstances, and their lives. Among the many issues she gave voice to were, abortion, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, sexual mutilation, transgenderism, and pornography.

We women owe Gloria Steinem a profound debt and gratitude. A leader among women, she will never be forgotten. RIP our dear friend and champion, one of the greatest SheHeroes of all time.
