We are celebrating our birthday!  September 3, 2008, was the first conversation between 2 founders about pursuing the concept of SheHeroes - although at the time it was just an idea, a dream, and a longing with no name and no resources.  Today we've come a long long way to making that dream a reality, through immense work from dozens of people.  

Highlights of our first year:

-Outpouring of support from volunteers:  More than 1400 volunteer hours, including 12 responses to request for an unpaid research internships from MIT students, professional graphics and logo development, sales executive help with fundraising materials, probono legal counsel, our volunteer development directors, school teacher help in pilot tests, ideas and offers of support from many nonprofits, especially Girl Scouts, Girls Inc and Sesame Workshop's Joan Gantz Cooney center, Media support from Denver Open Media

-Our first teen interviewer audition - excited young women from Girl Scouts of Colorado 

-Our pilot video - Girl Scout interviewers with Marion Downs, a true SheHero

-Our first major donor - opening a $30k check confirming that donors will commit their resources to make SheHeroes happen

-501c3 filing completed - I won't take you through the arduous process, but it was kind of like taxes 30X
