One of the preeminent writers of 19th century African-American life, the story of Zora Neale Hurston is shared by academic and poet Tonya Matthews. Zora Neale Hurston was an American novelist, short story writer, folklorist, and anthropologist, but best known for her 1937 novel Their Eyes Were Watching God.
