Do you just LOVE love animals and wildlife? If so, a career in veterinary medicine will let you work side by side with all the lovely, unique and sometimes even scary creatures you can imagine. Becoming a zoo vet is a competitive and always demanding career, but the reward is worth it. Zoo veterinarians are doing their part in the fight to save our planet's precious wildlife from extinction and you can join them!
We'll explore this fascinnating field with Dr. Erica Lipanovich, an Associate Veterinarian at the Louisville Zoo. Dr. Lipanovich graduated from Mississippi State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2004. After working 2 years in private practice seeing small animals and exotics in Arizona, Dr. Lipanovich served a 2-year residency at the Denver Zoo. She then spent six years working in zoological medicine at the Dickerson Park Zoo. She has also worked in private practice with exotic animals and as a consultant for a big cat sanctuary, wildlife rehab facility and as a relief vet for the Oregon Zoo. Dr. Lipanovich is currently an Associate Vet at the Louisville Zoo, where she brings her passionate devotion for wildlife and animals to every creature she treats.
