Kathy Levinson, the former COO of eTrade, the online investment banking firm, has always been at the forefront of social change. During her tenure at Charles Schwab she pushed for domestic partners to have the same health care benefits. During her career in the financial industry, she battled sexism with grit and confidence. In 2000 Levinson shifted gears once again to concentrate on philanthropy when she formed the Lesbian Equity Foundation, which is something she had intended to right after leaving Charles Schwab. Through this foundation, Levinson provides grants for many LGBT, women’s, and Jewish social justice causes. She continues to be a managing consultant. Kathy Levinson is a founding board president of Equality California, SF who was recently awarded their Geoff Kors Leadership Award in April of this year.
