Nothing is more inspiring than using your celebrity to help young girls feel better about themselves. And that’s what California’s first daughter and part of the Kennedy dynasty, Katherine Schwarzenegger has written her first book, “Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty.”
It may seem strange that a girl who’s father was known for his macho and exaggerated body image (Governor of California and action star, former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger) would be attempting to become the voice of positive body image for young girls.
But according to an interview Katherine gave to USA Today she battled her own body image issues when younger. "It was the first time I was aware of my body and compared what I looked like to what other girls looked like. It freaked me out," she told USA Today, saying she felt "fat and ugly."
What inspired her to write the book for today’s young girls after overhearing her own young cousins talk about wanting to be thinner and sexy. "I want to let girls know they are not alone with the changes and doubts about their body."
Katherine is currently a junior at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
A positive body image is vital for boosting self-confidence so that girls can pursue whatever dreams they want to follow.
We applaud Katherine for rockin what she’s got by sharing her story with other young girls. Way to be a SheHero!
